On February 19th our ABC NJ LNG Central hosted “Same Sex Weddings.” The event took place at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park, NJ.  It was the perfect location to celebrate Same Sex Marriage finally becoming legal in NJ.   The event allowed ABC members and other wedding professionals to learn about the LGBTQ community and how to market to same sex couples.

We worked with SCE Event Group and Peter James floral to transform the space.  SCE did an amazing job uplighting the rooms which really made the architecture of the Berkeley shine.  They also set up a fun interactive Instagram powered photo booth with the hashtag #abcnj.  Peter James Floral created some beautiful orchid arrangements that decorated the cocktail tables.  There was also a stunning floral arrangement at the entrance.  It featured cherry blossoms…which was an early sign of spring!


As guests arrived they were greeted by Jennifer Simon and Damon Dietz and received a swag bag filled with lots of goodies including; NJ Bride Magazine, “The Brides Guide to Selecting the Perfect Wedding DJ (,” favors by aStellina,, glitter truffle favors (, mini bubbles (, decorated favor cookies ( and packaged cotton candy (, and some other amazing goodies!!

The night began in the Versailles room with dinner and networking.  This night was unlike any other ABC event because we had the opportunity to work with not just one caterer…but three really amazing caterers; Falco’s Catering, Marilyn Schlossbach Catering and Events and Merri-Makers Catering.  They each presented their specialties including; mini meals, a salad station and a scallop station!  Everything tasted AMAZING!


After dinner, everyone headed into the Oval Room for the presentation portion of the event.  ABC co-directors Damon and Jennifer first gave away some prizes and then introduced Marie Danielle, the NJ State Coordinator.  Before heading into the education presentation, guests were treated to a surprise performance by musical comedy duo The Haus Of Mimosa.  The performance then led into our featured presentation by Michael Jamrock from EnGAYgedWeddingscom.  He spoke to the audience about how to market to same sex couples which was very informative.

We were beyond thrilled that Harrah’s Entertainment was so generous once again to invite us back to the fabulous Pool at Harrah’s. It is such a great location to kick off the festivities and welcome all of our attendees. The private loft space where the event was held overlooks the Pool and surrounding areas and has a great VIP feel.  Harrah’s recently added an outdoor lounge area through the loft that offers great views of Atlantic City.

As guests arrived, they were welcomed with a delicious Grey Goose punch cocktail. The loft area was surrounded with palm trees and featured some spacious black leather lounge furniture adorned with pillows as well as high top tables and cabanas.

Guests were offered a wide array of passed hors d’oeuvres such as jumbo shrimp cocktail, sliders, lamb chops, and spring rolls. Stations were also set up for guests to enjoy items such as tomato & mozzarella salad, farfalle pesto, sliced roast beef and more. And of course, a fabulous dessert table featuring an amazing variety of fruit and mini cupcakes.

As the attendees enjoyed their cocktails and fare, they had the opportunity to network and build new relationships with one another. Guests traveled from all over the tri state area and beyond (even from Panama and Dubai!) to attend this conference and continue to build their businesses.

While everyone was just getting settled in, our guest of honor Preston Bailey arrived to join the party. Everyone was delighted to have this incredible opportunity to meet with Preston in such an intimate setting. Preston is a world renown event designer and often speaks to groups of 1500 or more – so this opportunity does not come too often! Preston even passed along some words of design wisdom for ABC NJ State President Candice Benson who is expecting her second daughter in October.

It was so amazing to see how excited all of the guests were to meet and greet Preston, it was surely an experience they won’t soon forget. As the night ended, everyone headed back to Caesars to get a good nights rest in preparation for the big Conference the next morning!
